Occupational Health Center

Celebrating four-plus decades of service to industry and workers throughout the Midwest, GCOHC is a training center specializing in emergency response and hazardous worker operations. All offered courses and services incorporate OSHA safety standard 1910.120 and ANZI guidelines. GCOHC is a founding member of the Midwest Consortium Hazardous Waste Worker Training Program of the University of Minnesota, and a grantee of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, which approves our instructors and provides course curriculum. It was one of the first labor-sponsored occupational health clinics in the nation. Course participants who complete their training are issued certificates from GCOHC and The Midwest Consortium for Hazardous Waste Worker Training (MWC) at The University of Minnesota. GCOHC’s training program in emergency response hazardous waste operations is carefully monitored by our Board of Directors, comprised of representatives recognized nationally and internationally in emergency response, hazardous waste operations, and environmental fields.

GCOHC is a member of The Midwest Consortium for Hazardous Waste Worker Training, which provides specialized training to workers and communities exposed to hazardous substances, spanning 13 centers across nine states. Our programs enhance safety and preparedness for handling hazardous materials.

Training for Working People Provided By Working People

In 1987, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) awarded the University of Cincinnati a workforce development training grant to teach emergency response and handling hazardous waste to workers and their communities. The University of Cincinnati, Department of Environmental Health formed the Midwest Consortium Hazardous Waste Worker Training Program comprised of nine organizations headquartered throughout the Midwest region of the United States. The Greater Cincinnati Occupational Health Center is a founding member of that consortium and is responsible for training workers and industry throughout Ohio.
